A typical Bruce & Morgan design, this building is smaller and more picturesque than many of their courthouses. On the east corner of the courthouse, the clock tower sweeps upward to a tall pyramidally topped tower. On the west corner, the main facade is a squat bell-capped tower. A gable links the two and focuses attention on the Romanesque arched entry over which the date of construction is molded in terra cotta. The original doors have been replaced by steel and glass. Segment ally arched, round arched and rectangular windows of various sizes are found in the building. In the courtroom, the coved ceiling rises from the corners, culminating in the center with sixty-six squares of beaded boards in a checkerboard design. The design is echoed by the beaded board pattern of the bench and the wainscoting. The light coming into the room is colored by the small stained-glass squares (of yellow, purple, light blue, green, tan, and white) that remain in the transoms. Tall narrow doorways have corner blocks with a bulls-eye motif. The courthouse sits in the center of a square in Talbotton with many businesses surrounding it, so it has always served an economic purpose.
